Most of the confusion around buying a first wig comes down to one question nobody explains clearly enough: what's actually different between these construction types, and which one fits how you actually want to wear it? Here's the short version.

Lace frontal wigs

A lace frontal wig has a sheer lace panel across the front hairline (often labelled 13x4 or 13x6, referring to the size of the lace piece in inches). The lace is designed to be plucked and, in some cases, tinted to match your skin tone, so the hairline looks like it's growing directly from your scalp. Best for: special occasions, photos, or everyday wear if you don't mind a slightly longer install.

T-part wigs

A T-part wig has a small T-shaped section of lace or sheer material, just enough to give you one natural-looking parting line, usually down the middle or slightly off to one side. You don't get the full hairline the way a frontal gives you, but you also don't need to spend as much time on install or upkeep.

Best for: daily wear if you want a natural part without the extra maintenance of a full frontal.

Headband wigs

A headband wig has no lace at all. Instead, a fabric headband covers the front of the unit and sits on your natural hairline, so there's nothing to pluck, tint, or glue. You can put one on in under a minute and take it off just as fast.
